Blue Prints
Digital image printed on cotton

I wanted to experiment with what abstract marks the body could create, which are shown through the imprints that are “left behind” in these images. Some of the forms that the body creates are recognised by the viewer, such as finger prints, however some may not be more obscure.

Using a flatbed scanner, I captured the marks of the absent body. Through experimentating in Photoshop, I was able to create blue painting-like images. By scanning with high resolution and heavily cropping the images, a significant amount of detail that the human eye could not necessarily see is shown.

In the photographs the body itself is missing, giving an ominous atmosphere. There could be questions about what has happened and where the body is, making the marks seem like a trail of clues.
